Strange Rationale

Ok, there's a hiccup. Poor Kat worked all this time and found out that Blogger only allows 100 private viewers in case you're doing something illegal or preying on kids.. We're way, way past that in email addresses.

Kat had some good ideas, anyone else?

Remind me why you can't just do a password protected blog and send out an email with the password?

Violet said...

Wordpress?

Crystal said...

Hey, I don't see an option for that with Blogger but that might be the best solution. I'll check into it, again. Thank you!

Specifically - http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

You can create a (free) private blog and simply invite people to read it.

I was thinking password protected also. Oh I hope you can get it worked out. I've missed you so.

I'd have to agree. I think Wordpress might be the way to go now to utilize their privacy options.

Ditto the other wordpress ideas

i totally forgot about wordpress!

sorry for the technical difficulties... blame blogger and their bass-ackwards opinions about private blogs.

Either wordpress or the password protected route would work. If it were me I would probably just go to Wordpress.

I agree! Wordpress is best but password protected entries might best because people can see you've blogged but not access the post. That way you could go back and forth between public and private or people who might have missed the privacy announcement would still be able to ask to join! Also just in case I forgot to include my name on the list of people who still want to read, kate(dot)cotter(at)gmail(dot)com. I've been a huuge fan since I was made aware of the tiny condom post!!

Password protected & send out an email with password?

I think I forgot to give my email address, so here it is - debbieangle209(at)gmail(dot)com

Why don't you create one gmail account and let your followers all use the same email and password?

Wordpress. It's free and better than Blogger.

Crystal said...

Jaclyn,

I love that idea but the only problem is that anyone could edit or post on the blog...not that I think anyone would, but if just one hateful person got access...

I think I've found a way to password protect certain posts. Kat is looking into it for me :) Wish her luck!!

I love wordpress and being able to password particular posts.

Sorry, no ideas on the best way to do this. Can I be added to the list, though?

Not sure how you feel about this, but I'd be willing to host a WordPress installation with your theme and posts transferred straight over. You can even use the same domain name.

If you're reluctant to trust a random internet individual over a company, I'd recommend the WordPress.com route, though it's not quite free (transferring the domain name costs an additional $13 per year to WordPress).

Hello, I would like to be added to your email list.. (sarahbinkley@gmail.com)
I've been a fan for years and I've religiously checked your page for updates.
I'm sorry your life is so full of strife (Try having a husband whose been caught with prostitutes!), but you're an amazing writer and I know that someone with talent (and large breasts) such as yours will not always be small time. And I can't wait to tell everyone I was there first!
Remember that true change can take awhile.

I have spent years crying with you, laughing with you, grown with you, fell apart with you and enjoying every minute of it. I was so heart broken when you stopped writing, but I understood... I am grateful to have found your blog, I needed the realism and truth you have shown with your words. Thank you for stripping down and sharing all of yourself with all of us... I would love to be included in the "private" blogging, please add me to the list.

Hey Crystal, I've followed your blog for a while now, you have amazing writing skills and you and Kelly Grayson are the best writers I've seen on the net personally. If you can add me, I'm tracker2d(at) yahoo(dot)com

Hi Crystal! I'm a tard when it comes to all things internets so I don't have any ideas. Just wanted to ask to be added to your list if/when that's possible. You have been on my blog list right there on my side bar for years! I've lurked through the hysterically funny times(all of you piling into the tub during a tornado comes to mind)and the heart wrenching times as well(Crazy Chronicles). You have always presented as an incredibly open HUMAN and fantastically talented person-and I have always wished the best for you. None of us are perfect. We all have demons and darkness and shame...but looks like you have the balls to lay it all out, make sense of it, and hopefully peace with it. So thanks for that. It will help you and you will help others. Thanks for inviting us in!

I hope it's not too late to be added to the list. I fell in love with your writing style and candor a few years ago and I've missed it. I completely respect and understand your decision to go private, I just hope I can be included!
